Psychometrists administer psychological tests which aim to 'measure' functions such as cognition (often referred to as IQ or intelligence tests), interest (for example career assessments) and personality. The results are usually interpreted by a psychologist or psychiatrist to better understand the clients attitudes, abilities, medical condition or suitability in the workplace. Psychometrists hold an honours degree in research psychology and are registered with the HPCSA.
I obtained my BPsych equivalent degree in psychometry from Stellenbosch University and completed my internship at a busy private practice in Claremont. I have experience in educational and clinical assessments as well as having gained exposure to neuropsychological assessment and medico-legal work.
Areas of specialization include: - identification of barriers to learning - scholastic assessments - school readiness assessments - exam accommodations assessments - subject choice assessments - career counselling
I currently consult in conjunction with a clinical psychologist in the Table View area. Please see the website link for more details.
