Occupational therapists treat people with physical or mental impairments, helping them to achieve independence in their lives. They hold Bachelor’s Degrees in Occupational Therapy and are registered with the Board for Occupational Therapists, Medical Orthotists/Prosthetists and Art Therapists.
I provide occupational therapy to children of all ages, from infants to adolescents. I practice from the therapy rooms at Bellavista School, in Birdhaven, Monday to Fridays in the afternoons, and Saturdays in the morning.
In the occupational therapy intervention that I provide, I aim to support and encourage your child’s growth and development – empowering each child to reach their full potential. My occupational therapy sessions are child centred and create a space where children of all abilities are able to learn through play.
I use a Sensory Integration frame of reference in all aspects of the therapy process and provide treatment for all ages with a broad range of developmental challenges including: congenital developmental delays, sensory processing issues, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, ADD/ADHD, social skill challenges, visual perceptual difficulties & fine and gross motor skill delays. (I have completed two of the four sensory integration training modules.)
I have a special interest in working with children on the Autistic Spectrum, and have spent time working at an autism specific early intervention centre. I am trained and am experienced in using Makaton, Social Stories and incorporating ABA principles and the TEACCH philosophy in my therapy
