Counselling psychologists treat people dealing with normal life challenges, such as the loss of a job or divorce. They hold Master’s Degrees in Counselling Psychology and are registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
I am a counselling psychologist registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) offering individual psychotherapy services in the heart of Cape Town to adults and young adults/students.
I assist and support individuals with difficulties pertaining to relationships, anxiety, depression and low mood, loss and adjustment, stress and lifestyle, as well as identity. In addition, I work with individuals to optimise personal development and growth.
My integrative approach to psychotherapy draws on psychoanalytic, humanistic, cognitive and systems theories to understand and help my clients, and I work within an interpersonal framework that places the relationship between the client and the therapist at the heart of the work. As a counselling psychologist I am committed to helping my clients to navigate life's day-to-day challenges, as well as provide assistance with adjustment and developmental difficulties in order to optimise wellbeing.
Psychological discomfort can take various forms, ranging from significant distress, to having vague and uncomfortable feelings, with a sense that things are not ok. In addition to facilitating the development of healthier pathways with which to navigate life, psychotherapy provides support within an empathic therapeutic relationship, assists in the relief of symptoms and distress, and creates a safe space in which to gain clarity and deeper understanding of personal experience.
