I am a Clinical Psychologist in private practice in Saxonwold, in the North of Johannesburg. I am also a permanent member of staff at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, where I supervise training psychologists and psychiatrists.

Experiencing problems is part of of being alive. The aim of psychotherapy is to address the pain, suffering, and growth that result from problems and the search for solutions. We are who we are in relation to other people, which is why therapy happens within the relationship between therapist and client. Making the decision to begin therapy can be very difficult, and finding a therapist one feels comfortable with even more so. For this reason I spend the first few sessions focusing not only on the nature of my client's difficulties, but also on whether my client and I feel comfortable working together. I provide therapy in both English and Afrikaans.

I am trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy, which aids me in trying to make sense of my clients’ complex internal worlds as this way of working allows for creative and in-depth work.

When to Consider Therapy

You feel a prolonged and overwhelming sense of sadness and helplessness. You are struggling to get things done, finding yourself unable to concentrate or function as you used to.You experience an excessive amount of worry and anxiety, and find it difficult to see how things could get better.Your actions toward others and/or yourself become harmful, and you experience a high degree of conflict and discontent in your relationships both personally and professionally. You find that you cannot manage your emotional difficulties without harmful ways of coping, such as the use of substances and alcohol, gambling, and reckless use of money and assets. You struggle to find a way of life that leads to relationships, work, and social involvement that provide you with a sense of purpose and growth.
