As a Clinical Psychologist Liane has had a psychotherapy practice in Cape Town for the past 16 years working with individuals, families, couples and children. Liane’s orientation is psychodynamic psychotherapy where the therapist and client work together increasing awareness of the client’s actions, thoughts, feelings and beliefs. She values depth in psychology and the importance of understanding universal patterns, or archetypes, underlying human thinking and behaviour. Her work assists individuals, couples and groups to explore and gain insight into how these patterns impact on our relationships, whether within the context of the workplace or at home. Her approach aims for ongoing psychological growth that is achieved through an open and honest process of self-reflection. Liane offers both long term and brief psychotherapy. She offers couple therapy which is a process that aims to provide couples a neutral space to reflect on their relationship, express their feelings and thoughts effectively and understand the dynamics involved in their relationships. Liane is also an experienced child psychologist. She uses play therapy which is a technique used to work therapeutically with children by using their natural way of expressing themselves. Children use play to communicate at their level and at their pace, as at times they are unable to explain what is affecting them. Play therapy provides an emotionally supportive environment in which the child can begin learning about their feelings, thoughts, and how to manage relationships appropriately. It helps children cope with emotional stress, improve their level of emotional maturity and allows them to understand confusing feelings and upsetting events. Liane has facilitated trainings in leadership development, diversity and personal transformation. She is passionately committed to providing individuals with tools and knowledge to take responsibility for their transformation process. She is an empathic and insightful facilitator and also offers individual coaching, supervision and mentoring. Liane is a founding member of Woman for Afrika, a not-for profit organization, linked to Woman Within International and has been involved in its leadership development for the past 12 years. She is a facilitator in training for Woman Within International workshops. Liane has a particular interest in working with leadership and diversity. Liane is a dedicated and compassionate Clinical Psychologist, committed to her client’s well-being. She sees children, adults, couples and families for in-depth individual psychotherapy. Liane has a dual qualification as a Speech Language Therapist and Clinical Psychologist.
